Suzie Albert

Assistant Coach

Coach Suzie (Hammel) Albert is a native of Indiana, where basketball is a way of life. She grew up in gyms alongside her father, a Hall of Fame boys’ basketball coach, spending countless hours watching games from the bench and learning the game from an early age. That upbringing fueled her own playing career, beginning at Lebanon High School, where she was a 2000 Indiana All-Star and later named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Silver Anniversary Team. Suzie finished her high school career with 1,419 points, while setting school records for 50 points in a game, 531 points in a season, 11 three-pointers in a game, and 64 three-pointers in a season.

Suzie went on to play Division I basketball at Valparaiso University, where she was a four-year starter. During her career, Valpo teams captured three conference titles, two tournament championships, earned two NCAA Tournament appearances, and one WNIT berth. She was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Freshman Team, and finished her career second all-time at Valparaiso with 232 made three-pointers. Suzie also tied the Valparaiso single-game record with eight three-pointers and totaled 1,060 career points.

Following college, Suzie briefly lived in Texas before moving to Southeast Asia, where she coached at the International School of Phnom Penh. During her time there, her teams won eight Mekong River International School Association (MRISA) tournament championships, competing against international schools throughout Southeast Asia. Now back in Texas, Suzie is passionate about coaching young women, including her own daughter, Arya (2032). She enjoys helping players develop their skills, build toughness, and gain confidence, and finds the greatest reward in watching athletes grow both on and off the court.
