Head Coach
Brief info
How It All Started…
It all began in middle school when I first developed the desire to play basketball beyond high school. I knew I needed to work hard to earn a scholarship at the Division I level, so I dedicated myself to improving my work ethic. After leading my high school team to the deepest playoff run in school history, I signed with Oral Roberts University (ORU). One of my proudest achievements at ORU was being named the Lady’s Cup winner for service and athletic achievement, which allowed me to connect my passion for basketball with a greater purpose of serving and honoring God through my athletic abilities.
My Takeaway…
Throughout college, I battled injuries, including a season-ending injury during my senior year at ORU. Despite the ups and downs, I learned that my faith in God remains constant and that my identity lies in His plans and timing, not in my circumstances.
My Coaching Journey…
After a year of playing overseas, I began my coaching career training with one of the top basketball trainers in the Tulsa area. A few years later, I was blessed with the opportunity to step into a solid program as a Head Coach. This role allowed me to discover a new passion for the game of basketball, not only for its competitive nature but also for its ability to build relationships and help people grow, both on and off the court.
My Why…
As a child, basketball was a mix of the best moments and the toughest challenges, which fueled my passion for the game. I credit my love for basketball and my reason for coaching to the incredible teammates and coaches who have impacted me both on and off the court. These coaches showed me how to affect change and mentor the next generation of student-athletes. As I continue to teach the game and instill a strong work ethic in my athletes, my goal is to model strong character, empower them to embrace their God-given talents, and encourage them to use those talents to glorify Him.
My Family… Husband Andrew Baker, Keaton (2034) Kyla (2031) Noah (2029)
